Who Owns the Next Move?

A problem belongs with the people who have the authority and resources to change it.

Back to Feedbacks to Feed Forward

When something is not working, pause before assigning another task to the person closest to the problem. Ask where the change can actually happen.

Individual practice

Examples: modeling a direction, offering an accessible response option, or checking understanding.

Ask: What can I try within my role and the learner’s supports?

Team coordination

Examples: consistent routines, shared communication, or follow-through across adults.

Ask: What needs coordination, and who will confirm it?

School leadership

Examples: staffing, schedules, supervision, protected time, safety procedures, or duplicate documentation.

Ask: What can leadership change, resource, or stop?

System conditions

Examples: district policy, funding, and structures beyond an individual school.

Ask: Who has authority to review this barrier, and how will the request be tracked?
